A New Word and a New Beginning
It's been something like a year and three months since I've posted anything on here, so here's a quick recap of my last year or so:

I graduated in December with a BS in Chemical Engineering and moved from America's 15th most miserable city to the city that holds the coveted first place spot to work for NASA on the canceled program that was supposed to put humans back on the moon (awesome...I know).  Since moving into my apartment with my roommate in January, I've had all sorts of fun adventures in convincing the maintenance staff at my apartment complex to fix a plethora of problems, battling a nasty infestation of ants, and figuring out how to block out the footsteps of the elephant that lives upstairs.

During all this, I've had a lot of time to sit and reflect on what exactly I want this space to be.  I used to come here to vent and complain about my trivial problems - and lets be honest, they were trivial; I've hidden those posts away for now, but they're still in existence if I decide I want to see them again.  There's much bigger fish to fry on the problem spectrum than a bad grade or someone cutting me off in traffic.  So I decided I needed a change around here, but I didn't know just what, and I was too caught up in my last semester of school to be proactive and do something.  Now that I'm out in the real world working 9-5 as they say, I've got this over abundance of free time, and I want to do something productive, and hopefully, helpful.

So here's the deal.  I think I'm a pretty thrifty person, and most of my friends would agree.  They often ask me how I find such good deals on clothes or tell me they want to go shopping with me so they can see my frugality in action.  That's all good and well (and flattering), but I don't think one shopping trip can really teach someone a whole lifetime's worth of penny-pinching tactics.  That's where this journal comes in; it's the perfect place to log not only the deals I find, but the process by which I found them, and it will make it easy to keep track of just how much money I really am saving.

Hopefully somebody will find this useful, and at the very least, I can sleep soundly at night because I know my Mom and Grandma will read this and think it's the best thing since sliced bread :)

"best thing since sliced bread :)"
Hey. Now that I have some time now too (not quite as much as you though). This is the best thing since sliced bread.
